The Boulet Brothers' Dragula is a competitive drag show hosted and produced by The Boulet Brothers, two long-time drag performers and nightclub showrunners from Los Angeles. While comparisons to that other show are unavoidable, Dragula is different in a handful of crucial ways: rather than focusing solely on cisgender drag queens, Dragula celebrates a variety of identities and expressions; to date, the show has featured several trans and nonbinary contestants and cisgender women, including drag kings and a high-femme performing cis woman. Additionally, the show is structured less around lip syncs and more around multifaceted runway shows, with eliminations being determined by more Fear Factor-esque scenarios (e.g. being buried alive, eating pig brains, etc.). And, of course, the show focuses not on performing a convincing facsimile of femininity but instead on alternative drag, the three tenants of which are filth, horror, and glamour.
At time of writing, the show has run for 6 seasons and has had two offshoots: Resurrection and Titans. Both of these focused on bringing back previous competitors; Resurrection was a special that tasked participants with showcasing 3 looks from home, with the winner returning to participate in an upcoming season. Titans focused on pitting the competitors against each other for a full season.
